The association of leasing companies
The association of leasing companies in the former Czechoslovak Federative Republic (ÈSFR) was established already in the year 1991. In September 1992, an independent special-interest association of the Czech leasing was founded. In the course of the following years, it started to deal also with additional non-banking financial products, and some providers of consumer credits, instalment purchases and factoring became its members, too. The meeting of members held on 24th January 2005 resolved upon the corresponding change of the association's title to Czech leasing and financial association.
The association partakes in the preparations of principal legal regulations relating to non-banking financial products and with the position of the companies providing leasing, consumer lending, instalment purchases and factoring. It assists its members also in interpreting and applying the effective legal regulations. In its framework, the general leasing terms have been worked out and additional documents have been prepared to ensure the proprietary and other rights of the leasing societies in the course of the leasing operations. The association promotes adherence to the Ethics Code of Conduct by its member companies. It maintains a list of arbitrators, who can be used to resolve disputes resulting from leasing and instalment payment contracts.
An important imposition for the association is the representation of its member companies, and in many regards of the whole national non-banking financial community, in the non-commercial relations with the international associations and other foreign subjects. This is facilitated above all by the membership in the European confederation of leasing associations (LEASEUROPE). At present, 76 firms are members of the Czech leasing and financial association, which provide for some 97% of the volume of all national leasing operations and for most local non-banking credits and instalment purchases on behalf of the consumers.
